Over half a century Prestons have been setting exceptional standards and quality service. With an extensive fleet, large warehousing and a loyal workforce they have grown to become one of the most widely recognized family business in the British logistics industry.
It is now headed by the third generation of the Prestons family, David.

The company was formed at Potto in 1936 by Richard Preston Senior and operated successfully as an agricultural business until 1957 when a transport division was formed. In 1969 the company was handed over to Richard Junior and his wife Anne whose joint leadership took the company forward to its leading position today.

The growth of the company in the 70`s mirrored Teesside`s expanding chemical and steel businesses.

In the 80`s the company was one of the first privately owned to be accredited with BSI and is still praised for its continued high quality performance. It also changed its emphasis and became a large player in the food and drinks business.
The 90`s has been a time of change for the company with continued improvement being the key. It has seen the introduction of in cab communication, EDI, Web site, Computerised traffic scheduling and the fastest developing business, the provision of on site labour and total management. A highly successful joint partnership has been formed and the fleet size grown to meet the ever changing needs of customers. In order to enhance the network new distribution depots were opened in six new locations.

Now in the 21st century the preston family are confident that the ingredients are in place for even more success with a dedicated workforce, the most up to date fleet and technology in its history, the ability to compete for big business but yet keep the personal touch and a leader in David with a wide experience of the logistics business.
